The Open Water Referral course is designed for
students holidaying abroad, and covers the 3-day pool and theory
elements of the 5-day Open Water Course.
Please make sure that clients bring the referral
papers with them, which must have all the theory and confined water
modules signed as completed by their initial instructor.
Having completed the Open Water Referral course,
you can than complete the four dives of the open water part of the
course whilst you are abroad. These dives must be completed within 12
months. Perhaps you have all but the Open Water Dives left to do
as part of the course for fear of the cold water back home or bad

The PADI Open Water Referral course takes 2 days
and includes 4 open water dives. The minimum age is 10 years. A typical
schedule is as follows:
Day 1: open water dives 1 and 2
Day 2: open water dives 3 and 4
On completion of the course, a PADI Open Water
Diver may dive with a buddy of similar or greater experience, under
conditions as good as or better as those in which they learned, to a
maximum depth of 18m. Junior Open Water Divers must dive with a
certified parent/guardian or PADI professional. The depth limit for 10
to 11 year olds is 12m. For 12 to 14 year olds may dive to18m.
• Scuba equipment rental is included for all
courses.
• A diving medical self-declaration must be
completed prior to any in-water training. In the case
of children under 15 this must be counter-signed by a parent or
guardian.
• PADI course materials may be purchased by guests
at home, or locally after arrival
